LifeGuide & NLC | Recapping our 2024 Community Impact Project
May 10, 2024 | Impact
On Friday, April 26th and Saturday, April 27th, 2024, LifeGuide team members and clients showed up for an “Extreme Makeover” Community Impact Project at New Life Community in Carlisle. We set out with one goal in mind: To bless the socks off of NLC and those they serve.
Consider this:
- 68% of households within a six-block radius of NLC are single-parent families.
- Nearly 19% of Carlisle residents live at or below the poverty level.
- Of the 2000 homeless people in Cumberland County, more than 1/4 (560) are 18 or younger.
The result of the 48-hour Extreme Makeover was nothing short of awe-inspiring! Together, we were able to completely transform NLC’s youth wing and their newly created Marketplace, which is dedicated to empowering individuals with opportunities for economic self-sufficiency and community engagement.
All told, we raised $37,000 and had more than 120 volunteers of all ages and walks of life show up to paint, demo, lay flooring, assemble, move, organize, clean, cook, and so much more. Ryan Brown, NLC’s Lead Pastor, shared after the event, “It might seem like ‘just’ painting or ‘just’ laying some flooring, but the work your team did here today has literally moved our ministry months, even years, into the future.”
On behalf of our team, THANK YOU to everyone who participated and donated. We truly have the best clients in the world, and I couldn’t be more grateful!
By the Numbers
