“Teach those who are rich in this world not to be proud and not to trust in their money, which is so unreliable. Their trust should be in God, who richly gives us all we need for our enjoyment. Tell them to use their money to do good. They should be rich in good works and generous to those in need, always being ready to share with others. By doing this, they will be storing up their treasure as a good foundation for the future so that they may experience true life.”

– 1 Timothy 6:17-19 (NLT)

Why we're doing this

We believe that we have been blessed to be a blessing, and NLC/LifeWORKS has important and urgent needs that we can help with. NLC does an amazing job of seeing and caring for those falling through the cracks in society. Consider this:

  • 68% of households within a six-block radius of NLC are single-parent families.
  • Nearly 19% of Carlisle residents live at or below the poverty level.
  • Of the 2000 homeless people in Cumberland County, more than 1/4 (560) are 18 or younger.

So, as a LifeGuide family, we want to encourage and bless the socks off NLC through our radical generosity so that they can reach even more people in ways they have only dreamed about!

Why we're doing this

Thank you to our partners!

A big “thank you” to our community partners for helping to support this event:

3. Bring

Through their LifeWorks ministry, NLC provides furniture, furnishings, and home supplies to families moving from homelessness into homes. The goal is to help families get off on the right foot and make their apartment feel like home from day one! NLC also provides bicycles for those who need transportation, enabling them to get to work, doctor’s appointments, or wherever they may need to go. We are looking to FILL THE PARKING LOT with these much-needed items:

Dropoff Instructions: You may bring any of the above items to the NLC parking lot anytime during the event (9am-8pm on Friday and 9am-4pm on Saturday).

Pickup Available: If you have larger items that you need assistance moving/hauling (e.g., couch), please let us know! We will have a moving/hauling team available to help pick up large items.

Note: Please do not bring old electronic devices, such as VCRs, old-style TVs, or computers. These types of items are not useful and are expensive to dispose of.

About NLC's LifeWorks

Event Q&A:

What if I'm not handy? Can I still serve?

Absolutely! There are so many ways to help: Organizing, arranging, cleaning, keeping the work crews nourished, writing letters of encouragement to single parents, landscaping, picking up supplies, and more. Just sign up; we will put you to work!

What kind of work will we be doing?

In addition to the above, we will be painting, doing light construction, assembling and setting up furniture, setting up AV, landscaping, and anything else that Ryan and his team can use help with!

Do I need to stay the entire time?

We ask that you sign up for time slot(s) so that we can plan the projects and food. But, come late or leave early if you need to, no problem—just come when you can!

Can I invite non-LifeGuide clients?

Absolutely! Please invite your family, friends, coworkers, and neighbors! This is a “the more, the merrier” type event!

Where will my donation go?

100% of your donation will go directly to NLC/LifeWorks to fund the project (and be matched dollar for dollar up to $25,000)! All food and other expenses are being covered by LifeGuide and other generous partners.

All donations are tax-deductible. We hope to exceed our $50,000 goal to begin funding a part-time, after-school program staff sometime in the future. There are many kids in downtown Carlisle without a safe, encouraging, and fun place to go after school—let alone a place to experience the acceptance and love of Jesus. We think this program is going to grow quickly and become an impactful and essential part of the community support system!

What is LifeGuide's involvement with New Life Community?

We have been long-time fans of the work New Life Community does for those in need and have supported them through the LifeGuide Impact Fund for many years! (We created the LifeGuide Impact Fund in 2014 as a way to support and magnify the efforts of organizations making a positive impact in their communities. And each month, we contribute a percentage of our proceeds to this fund.)

Through the LifeGuide Impact Fund, YOU—our clients—are playing a direct role in the transformational work taking place through New Life Community Church. From plugging families into affordable housing to furnishing that housing, providing reliable transportation, helping break the cycle of addiction, finding jobs, and so much more, New Life Community is a true example of what it looks like to be the hands and feet of Jesus in our community!
